Dharma/SQL Product Suite

The Dharma/SQL product suite allows Windows^¨ GUI tools and applications to access and modify data in any proprietary (non-SQL) database. Dharma/SQL provides the following benefits: accessibility of proprietary databases from GUI report writers, application generators, and query tools; accessibility of server-based proprietary data from client platforms through client/server networking; and exchange of information between commercial databases and any proprietary database through gateways.

Dharma/SQL Access is the foundation of the Dharma/SQL product suite. It provides an SQL interface to the proprietary database. The interface is compatible with ANSI/ISO SQL92, ODBC 2.1, and Oracle7. Dharma/SQL Access includes a SQL engine consisting of a SQL parser, optimizer, and executor that works with any proprietary database. It provides access to SQL through embedded, interactive, and application programming interfaces.
Dharma/SQL Network adds client/server capabilities to proprietary databases. Client/server technology greatly extends the usefulness of data in proprietary databases by making it available to networks of personal computers. Dharma/SQL Network is based on the remote procedure call (RPC) paradigm and handles the packaging of data on the network and conversion from one machine format to the other.

Dharma/SQL ODBC Driver brings plug-and-play interoperability to proprietary databases. It opens proprietary databases to Windows-based GUI applications. The Dharma/SQL ODBC Driver supports both single and multiple tier configurations.
