The Cost Quotation Package

In the Industry of Flexible and Rigid Packaging, the CARTObject package for budgeting and bidding manages every activity concerning quotations, bids calculations.

The package allows a quick on line offering negotiation with the customer. The cost of raw materials, job processes, and transport is instantly available. Full decomposition of every type of cost is predetermined up to the charge for containers and pallets. The bid accepted by the customer becomes an internal job order, which acts like a tracking object for vendor's orders of raw material and for the internal activities during the manufacturing. Firm and realistic delivery dates can be agreed to with the customer, based on known delivery dates committed by vendors. Multiple and/or partial deliveries of the job orders can be handled.

The Technology

The package is based on object technology methodologies with three software layers:

• The Set of Visual Classes
• The Set of Business Logic Classes
• The Set of Persistence Technology Classes

The advantage of this structure lays is the independence of the layers, allowing the modification of one with minimum impact on others. Benefits include:
