IBM Application Performance Monitor for VisualAge

The IBM Application Performance Monitor for VisualAge communicates with the Performance Monitoring of Application Agents feature or Systems Management Systems such as IBM NetView* or Tivoli Management Environment. These Simple Network Management Protocols (SNMP) subagents collect performance information about transactions in object-oriented applications.

These components bring simple implementation of performance monitoring to the VisualAge developer in either C++ or Smalltalk by wrapping the Performance Monitoring of Applications Agents API as a non-visual VisualAge part.

The collected information is stored in a SNMP Management Information Base (MIB) and/or in an Application Monitoring File (.AMF) for later analysis by any SNMP manager of systems management application. The implementation uses classes that allow the identification of applications and transactions as objects. These objects then use the RTAgent object to communicate with the Performance Monitoring of Applications Agents subsystem.

With IBM Application Performance Monitor for VisualAge business applications can be monitored for response-time, availability, and service level.

IBM Application Performance Monitor for VisualAge is available for the following VisualAge environments:

IBM Performance Monitoring Applications Agents Version 1 Release 1 Modification 1 is a prerequisite for the use of these components. For more information, prices, and electronic delivery, visit The Reusable Software Component Market on the worldwide web at http://components.software.net.
