Objects for Notes 2.0MicroDoc Objects for Notes is a Smalltalk class library to access Lotus Notes** databases and mail. It is designed to enable Smalltalk programmers to integrate new and existing Lotus Notes applications into Smalltalk systems. No Lotus Notes API programming know-how is required. Objects for Notes offers an easy and convenient way to read and write Notes documents and send/receive Notes mail.
Objects for Notes is much more than just an API wrapper. It offers a sound and complete, hierarchical object model for Notes networks, databases, documents and fields. With Objects for Notes you can create, delete, read, write, and modify Lotus Notes documents on a field level. Most of Notes' typed data fields are supported with generic Smalltalk classes. Navigating through Notes Views is supported by a non-cyclical graph model, which provides straight access to categories, documents and parent-child relationships. Objects for Notes offers data access to local and remote data sources. The new version supports database security, full text search and other advanced features.
The underlying procedural API is completely separated from the Object Interface. No low-level programming (like managing Lotus Notes memory) is necessary. Objects for Notes implements a kind of transaction-oriented behavior to handle API specifically. Extensive exception handling takes care of possible problems.
MicroDoc Objects for Notes is available for IBM VisualAge Smalltalk Team 4.0x for 32 Bit Windows & OS/2 with Lotus Notes Version 4.5 and higher. The price is $1,295.
