RPC2O

MicroDoc RPC Connection to Oracle is a highly optimized distributed access layer for VisualAge Smalltalk to communicate with Oracle RDB systems. RPC2O is composed of an extendable server component written in C and a Sun RPC based client module entirely coded in Smalltalk. The product offers a compact and easy to use public protocol.

Architecture

The server component is installed on the database server as a demon. It calls directly into Oracle's OCI and can be accessed via RPC from the client side. No extra database communication layer is needed. The client implements XDR data conversion as well as protocols for connection management and data manipulation. The database accessor class offers a dynamic SQL interface and can be extended to handle static SQLs via server add-ins.

Platform support

RPC2O is available for 32 Bit Windows and OS/2 Warp clients and Windows NT or AIX servers running Oracle V7. RPC2O requires the VisualAge Smalltalk base TCP/IP communication application on the client side.

The client software is based on a per developer license ($2800). The server license is rated on a per client basis which starts at a 10 clients pack for $2500. Please E-mail for additional information.
