DAF - The Powerful Interface Between Smalltalk & RDBMSs

Object-oriented applications enable the real world to be closely modeled within the software environment by developing software 'objects' that simulate real world entities. These objects contain both the data and behavior of the real world entities being modeled. The data for such systems is often resident on a relational database server. It is therefore necessary to implement a mechanism that can read the data from the database and re-associate it with the relevant behavior in order to create objects (and vice versa).

The Power of Visual Data Accessing

DAF comes as a set of parts that is available for both OS/2 and Windows. These parts provide a visual interface to manipulate the object's data on a relational database. With only minor changes to applications, features of DAF can be fully utilized.

A selection of DAF features includes:

DAF provides support for the AS/400 and many ODBC databases.
