Smalltalk\SQL is a set of portable database access classes for Smalltalk-based environments. Unlike other products which use only a least common denominator interface, Smalltalk\SQL provides portability along with native database interface support. Smalltalk\SQL directly accesses ODBC, Q+E, Sybase, ORACLE, and Gupta APIs. High-level abstractions provide an easy-to-use set of classes and database portability.
With Smalltalk\SQL, you can always access the value-added features of specific databases. The specific database API is available to extend the many capabilities of Smalltalk\SQL. Applications then interact with the agents using functional messages which automatically manage all the low-level interaction. This enables complete portability across the supported environments.
