5.1 Comparing Strings
Since different languages have different alphabets, GEOS has to allow for characters not in the standard English character set.
You will find that character values are stored via the
Chars
enumerated type. Thus, many standard procedures have been localized. Most of these functions have to do with the lexical value of characters, their place in a lexical, or alphabetic, ordering. These lexical values take the place of ASCII standard character values that you may be used to.
