PCMCIA Driver installation for IBM PC110 under Microsoft Windows 95

Modified from the original IBM files by Daniel Basterfield, December 1998.

This version of the installation package is the first BETA version. See my web page at http://www.basterfield.com/pc110/w95/w95-8.htm for updates.

Copyright

This driver and associated files are sourced from diskette images downloadable from the IBM Japan FTP site; they are believed to be for an IBM PCMCIA Infrared card called the'SmartPC'.

Please note that my packaging of these drivers is in no way intended to imply ownership of the enclosed software. It is known that this is the only Windows 95 PCMCIA driver which supports the peculiar PCMCIA device configurations often used by IBM PC110 owners; I have simply provided the driver in this format to aid its installation by non-Japanese users. No infringement of copyright is intended. All program code is (probably) the property of IBM Japan.

For those interested, the two original README files have been retained, but renamed, as ReadMeJ.W95 and ReleaseJ.txt. As I do not read Japanese, I cannot say what these files discuss, but I assume they detail the software license and distribution conditions under which the original software package was made available.

Features
~~~~~~~~
Provides support for the PC110 PCMCIA controller;
Supports the use of PCMCIA type convertors with the drive used to boot Windows 95.
Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~

From 'Control Panel', select 'Add/Remove Hardware', click 'Next'

Select 'No', click 'Next'

Scroll down the list of hardware types, select 'PCMCIA socket', click 'Next'

Click 'Have Disk...'

Enter the location of the driver files, and select 'OK'

Ensure that 'IBM PC110 PCMCIA Controller' is highlighted, and click 'Next'

You will be warned that the I/O range has been set to 03E0-03E1 - this is fine; click 'Next'

You will be asked to insert your original Windows 95 media, and files will be copied to the hard drive

Click 'Finish'

You will now be taken through the PCMCIA Wizard, which will help you configure 32-bit PCMCIA support. You may be prompted to allow a removal of previous drivers you have tried to install - this is OK. Once complete, shut down and power off, as advised. At reboot, you will have PCMCIA support.
