The "My Menu" feature appeared in some early users manuals for the VX-7R US models, but the feature was scrapped in US production units in favor of the internet feature. Non-US models still have the "My Menu" feature. Because this didn't work as referenced in the manual, it was a source of confusion for some of the first US VX-7R owners. This was later corrected in the manual.

Through my investigations into the VX-7R memory map, I have found that this feature is still available in US models, if it is enabled through software. I have implemented this "Mod" in VX7 Commander:

In VX7 Commander, go to Advanced -> Internet/My Menu
Select My Menu. Click OK.
Write the file to your VX7.

You will immediately see that there is no "Internet" icon on the splash screen when the VX-7R is powered on.

"MY MENU" Short-cut Key Setup

The MY MENU key function allows you to create a short-cut path for
recall of one of Menu Items. The key then serves as the "Short-Cut"
key..

1. Recall the Menu Item which you wish to assign to the key as a Menu
short-cut.

2. Press and hold in the key for 1/2 second to assign the Menu Item
to the key...

Please note, that with the software mod, you cannot toggle between the "Internet Connection" function and the "My Menu" function as outlined in the original procedure from the manual. You must choose EITHER the the "Internet Connection" functions OR the "My Menu" function, and this must be toggled through software.

I do not know if this will enable the "Internet Connection Feature" on non-US models, but it is a possiblity. If it does, great.
