HP-UX SecureShell version A.05.90 requires approximately 32 MB of disk space on allsupported OS versions and platforms.

PatchRequirements

HP-UX SecureShell version A.05.90 is tested with the following Support Plus patch bundles.These patches are mandatory for HP-UX 11i v1 users. These patch bundles are notrequired for HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 users.

OtherRequirements

HP-UX SecureShell requires that a random number generator be located on the system. Itsearches for dev/urandom and dev/random(in that sequence) on the system and uses the first device it finds. The dev/urandomand dev/randomdevices are available by default on HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 operatingsystems. These devices can also be obtained for HP-UX 11i v1 by downloading andinstalling the HP-UX Strong Random Number Generator from http://software.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=KRNG11I.HP recommends that Secure Shell users on HP-UX 11i v1 systems install theStrong Random Number Generator product as it significantly speeds up programinitialization and execution time for some commands.

InstallationProcedure

To installHP-UX Secure Shell version A.05.90, complete the following steps:

1. Log inas superuser.

2. Downloadthe T1471AA.depot file (for HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2) or SecureShell depot (for HP-UX 11i v3) file available at:
http://www/software.hp.com/

3. Copy thedepot file to the /tmp directory.

4. Enterthe swlist command to verify whether you havedownloaded the depot file properly.

Note: Include the completepath name of the depot file. For example:

$ swlist–d –s /tmp/<filename>.depot

5. Enterthe following command to install HP-UX Secure Shell on HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX11i v2:

$ swinstall–s /tmp/<filename>.depot T1471AA

6. Enterthe following command to install HP-UX Secure Shell on HP-UX 11i v3:

$ swinstall–s /tmp/<filename>.depot SecureShell

The HP-UX Secure Shell daemon (sshd)is preconfigured and starts after installation.

7. Enterthe following command to verify if sshd is running onyour system:

$ps –ef| grep sshd
