Additional Software CD's

Provided along with your Solaris Operating Environment are additional software CD's. These include the Star Office CD and the Solaris Software Companion CD.

Both these CD's include an on CD installer for later installation.

The Solaris Software Companion CD is a collection of useful and popular software for use in conjunction with Solaris and is available for both the SPARC and Intel architectures. This software consists of many public domain or freely available programs including utilities, productivity and development tools and much more.

The software on the Solaris Software Companion CD is offered to you for free as a convenience as it may compliment your Solaris Operating Environment. No warranty is made on any of this software. Support and assistance with this software is not provided by Sun Microsystems, Inc. See the notice during the installation for details.

The Solaris Software Companion CD may be installed during your main installation of Solaris 8. In order to do so, please follow these instructions:

- To install the Solaris Software Companion CD for the Solaris Operating Environment...

Choose "Custom" when you get to this panel in the installer and click 'Next'....
Type of Install
Then when you see this panel....choose 'Product CD' and press 'Next'
Additional Products
...place the Solaris Software Companion CD into the CD bay...
...and Click "OK"
Insert CD
This will scan the CD for products and place them in the product selection panel of the Solaris 8 Install Wizard.

If you would like to install contents from this CD, you may do so at a later time by using the Installer Wizard that is available on the Companion CD's top level file system.

Please pay attention to any README files that accompany the related software on the CD-ROM. Each component of software may have licensing terms or guidelines associated with its use. Please review each for any restrictions that may exist. This software is provided for free and is not formally supported by Sun Microsystems.
