AppCert, a product of the Solaris^TM ABI Program, is an easy-to-use development tool to examine the binary compatibility of applications on future releases of the Solaris^TM Operating Environment.

AppCert examines how applications interface with the Solaris Operating Environment by checking the application's interfaces against a list of compatible interfaces. This ensures it will run unchanged on any release of Solaris, from 2.5.1 onwards.

AppCert outputs a list of interfaces used by the application builder that might compromise compatibility. The list includes programming interfaces not documented or intended to be used by application builders.

Examine an entire product along with its programs and supporting shared objects by simply pointing AppCert at one or more directories where the binary objects representing the product are installed.
