Solaris Management Console 1.0
The SolarisTM Management
ConsoleTM ("the Console") is a
JavaTM-based tool for managing Solaris servers. The Console
provides a central integration point for Solaris applications and
services.
- Users and system administrators can register applications and services
that they wish to use on a given Solaris server. Command line, X, and
URL applications can be registered, and can then be remotely invoked by
pointing and clicking.
- Multiple Solaris servers can be registered with the Console.
Thus, an administrator can select a particular server and then observe
and invoke the services registered on it.
- Server registrations can be nested; administrators can expand the
initial view of registered servers to include secondary tiers of
machines.
- Single sign-on is supported. Additional authentication can be
provided for applications that have been registered to require root or
group 14 privileges.
- Browser-based client download is provided, allowing any Solaris
node to become a client of a server on which the Console's server
software is installed.
- Online help is provided for all views and actions.
