Information on March Driver Update: M. Lovas SunSoft 4-13-94 mike.lovas@sun.com Due to problems with one new driver this update is being posted late to this location. The March update consists of two compressed tar files -- one for the 3.5" diskette format and one for the 5.25" diskette format. You need only copy the format you need for your system. The files are: MARCH3.tar.Z -- 3.5" format files MARCH5.tar.Z -- 5.25" format files Contained within each of these tar files are 3 files: 1-Boot image 2-Update image 3-Late Breaking News (postscript) A text version of the late breaking news is posted separtely as late05.txt. Copy the compressed tar files to your local system, uncompress it, then un-tar it to obtain the 2 diskette images and the late breaking news. The late breaking news describes the content of the diskette. These diskettes contain all drivers cumulative since the Solaris 2.1 FCS release. Use dd to write the diskette images to a floppy diskette. For example, to create a new boot diskette from the image contained in the MARCH03.tar.Z archive, execute dd if=du_boot.3 of=/dev/rfd0 bs=30K (assumming that the primary floppy is 3 1/2") These drivers have been tested on release 2.1 and should be compatible with EA-1 release of 2.4, however no testing has been done on that release. Also posted here for March is a new PMI patch update. This file is also compressed (PMI07.Z). Uncompress this file to get a diskette image of a Solaris 2.1 patch. This patch is in the standard patch format and can be used to add support for new PMI devices. The README file on the patch describes the new device support. The file dd.exe posted here is a DOS executable that will allow you to make diskette copies on a DOS system. The utility accepts the name of the diskette image file and will copy it to the floppy: E.G.: dd.exe [fname] a:
