Introduction
============
With this sampler CD-ROM, we offer you the opportunity to evaluate several applications in various categories. Many of these applications have only been available on high- performance workstations, minicomputers, and mainframes. Under Windows NT, they are now available on industry standard PCs. Prior to starting the installation, please review the recommended requirements so that you can ensure successful operation. These requirements can generally be found in the README files associated with each application or in the section of this HELP file that details each application.

In order to get started with this CD-ROM Sampler, use the File Manager to start (double-click) on the INTRO.EXE file in the root directory of the CD-ROM.

Special Considerations
=======================
Cool Technologies: Copy the cooltech directory to your hard disk. Then run setup.exe from the hard disk.

============
Eicon: In order to run Access For Windows NT 3270, you need to have Microsoft SNA Server installed on the network.

============
Executive Software: In order to successfully install File Alert, you must be logged into Windows NT with administrator privileges on the local machine.

============
File Commander: In order to successfully install File Commander, you must be logged into Windows NT with administrator privileges on the local machine.

============
Hyperion: Hyperion install won't work directly from the CD. The setup.bat batch file provided for setup should not be run as it was meant for a diskette distribution. In order to install Hyperion, use the File Manager to tree-copy the entire hyperion directory to a directory on your d: drive that is called HYP15. If you copy the files into another directory, you will need to manually edit the hyperion.ini and imrs.ini files by replacing the path names with the new path.

============
Intro.exe: Do not attempt to close INTRO.EXE or any of the subscreens using the control box on the upper-right portion of the window. In order to cleanly exit, you must use the 'EXIT' or 'RETURN TO MAIN' buttons from each panel. If you don't do this, instances of intro.exe will continue on in the background of your system.

============
NWCS: Please copy the contents of the directory corresponding to the CPU architecture (i.e., Intel, MIPS, or Alpha) you are using onto a diskette. Then, start the Windows NT Control Panel and start the NETWORKS applet. Click on the Add Software button and use the diskette you've just created as the provider of data.

============
OpenDraw: The .wri (Write) file may have unreadable characters since this was a conversion of a Word for Windows document provided by the application vendor.

============
PC-NFS: Please install by copying the contents of the pc_nfs directory to your hard disk and then run the setup from there. For details, please read the proper section in the CD-ROM sampler helpfile which is called sampler.hlp

============
Source Safe: This program may report that you have insufficient disk space, even if you do have enough space to complete the installation. Just hit the 'Continue' button to proceed.

============
VMark: In order to install on a MIPS or ALPHA machine, start a DOS Command Prompt and change to the vmark directory on the CD-ROM. Then, run uvsetup with an argument that specifies the destination drive -- for example, UVSETUP D:. For more details or extra information on proper installation instructions, please read vmark\text\install.txt

============
Microsoft Test: The program groups are set up incorrectly -- you need to set the default directory to the directory that will contain the executables.
