SpeedEdit - Full Featured Multi Platform Programmers Text Editor

SpeedEdit is a powerful, full featured text editing subsystem for
use by professional programmers. The feature list is impressive,
including over 200 built in editing functions and over 200 user preference
settings as well as complete programmability. SpeedEdit is available in
character versions as well as a full GUI application for all platforms
save MPE/iX where it is available only as a character application.
The WindowsNT SpeedEdit uses Win32s so it can also be run under
Windows 3.1 and later operating systems. The UNIX GUI versions are
true Motif applications which have nearly identical operational
characteristics and functionality to the Windows and WindowsNT versions.

Each version of SpeedEdit has been tailored specifically to its native
environment such that it is not hampered by the lowest common denominator
but rather takes full advantage of the features of the environment
in which it resides. For example, under both WindowsNT and UNIX,
process handling is more robust and flexible than say a DOS environment,
and thus SpeedEdit makes better use of this capability where it is
available.

Noteworthy features;

Color SpeedEdit highlights key words and comments in
different colors and additionally shows modified text
in a different color than unmodified text.

Compilers SpeedEdit comes configured for use with dozens of
the most popular compilers from manufacturers like
            Microsoft, Borland, Zortech, Glochenspeil, Watcom,
Metaware, Lehey, etc. Other compilers can be added
by the end user as needed.	Compile support includes
running compilers, linkers, make, error trapping and more.

Languages SpeedEdit comes preconfigured with support for languages
such as C, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, ASSEMBLER and others.
New languages can be added by the end user simply by
adding entries to a few files. Language sensitivity
includes syntax highlighting, keyword expansion, brace
or begin-end matching, block closure, comment highlighting,
            and more.

Search &
Replace SpeedEdit support full regular expressions, exact match,
            language sensitivity, incrimental search, backward/forward,
            multi file and more.

Programmability
SpeedEdit is fully programmable. For the most part users
needn't bother with programming SpeedEdit but when the
need arises SpeedEdit supports full conditional expressions,
loops, variables and everything you might need to create
            your own macros.

Keyboard SpeedEdits keyboard defaults conform to standard Windows
conventions but you can easily remap keystrokes to SpeedEdit
commands or commands directed to the operating system
or even user macros. A Brief definition file is provided
for those that desire this emulation.

Remote
Development A unique feature which allows the user to configure SpeedEdit
to retreive files from a remote host system for local
editing in a transparent fashion. Also provides for
	    remote compiles, error trapping etc.

Systems Supported systems include MS-Windows, WindowsNT, SCO,
            SunOS, Solaris86, Solaris 2, Interactive, HP-UX, AIX
            (RS6000), Dynix, and MPE/iX.

About the trial:

This is a full working copy of SpeedEdit which is limited to saving
files of 250 or fewer lines. You can still edit files which are
larger but will not be able to save your changes.

One area where many users have very strong opinions about how an
editor should work is in how the GUI interface operates. You may
wish to experiment with the Options/GUI preferences settings to find
the arangement which works best for you. With all options on, you
will find that SpeedEdit is most like other Windows applications.
