***InTouch for Windows NT Demo Script***

Installing the Software
-----------------------
You can install the software on your computer by running the Install.Exe program from the INT32 directory of this CD. This will copy the files to your hard disk, create a Wonderware group in your program manager, and add the program icons to the group.

Running the InTouch Demo Application
------------------------------------
An InTouch demo application, by default, is installed in a subdirectory under the program directory you chose at installation. To start InTouch, simply double-click on the InTouch icon. This will launch the InTouch startup dialog box which should display the DEMOAPP1 directory. If it isn't displaying this directory, select it from the directory list.

Once the desired application is found, select the WindowViewer check box and click the OK button. Depending on the screen resolution you are currently using, you may be asked if you want to convert the application... Select "Yes". This will launch the WindowMaker software which will convert the application. Once it is done, shut down the WindowMaker application and start the WindowViewer over again. This time you should see the application running.

The demo is set up to emulate a chemical reaction and packaging process. By selecting any of the controls in the screen you can control the variables in the process. At the top of the screen is a button labeled "Password"; by selecting this and entering "InTouch", you are given access to override the automatic control of the pumps and valves. You can go to the packaging screen by selecting the "Conveyor" button. Here you can also control several aspects of the operation.

Creating your own Application
-----------------------------
Every application created with InTouch requires its own directory on the disk. To create a new application, shut down both the WindowMaker and WindowViewer software if they are currently running. Start up the InTouch application by double-clicking on the InTouch icon. Select the "Create Directory" button if you want to create a new directory, or just select an existing directory. When you select the OK button, you will be asked if you want to create a new application in that directory. By selecting "Yes", InTouch will automatically launch WindowMaker.

WindowMaker presents you with an empty application template to work with. The first thing you need to do is create a window within this template. Select the "New Window" menu item from the "File" menu. Change the window parameters as needed, and select the "OK" button. Once you have a window, you will see the WindowMaker toolbox. By using the tools available on the box and selecting help (F1 key) when needed, you will be able to create and animate your application.

Linking with DDE Information
----------------------------
Every aspect of InTouch is designed to communicate with DDE values. While these values would normally be industrial controllers communicating via our DDE Servers, we can show the communication abilities using Microsoft Excel. To set up the demo, load the DEMOAPP1 application in WindowMaker as we did above. Select the Conveyor and Menu windows using the "Open Window" menu item from the "File" menu. In the Conveyor window double-click on the slider button underneath the meter, which should bring up the animation selection box. Click on the "Horizontal" button in the "Value Slider" section which should be checked. The screen will display the Tag Name and movement parameters for the slider. Now double-click on the tagname, which will bring up the database entry for this tag. Currently the tag is using a Memory location that contains a real value. To change this to a DDE value, simply select the "Type" button and change the type to DDE REAL. Make sure that the Initial Value is set at 5, the Max EU is set at 10, and the Max Raw is set at 10. Now click on the "DDE Access Name" button and select the "LocalExcel" option. Finally enter the cell number on the spreadsheet you want to connect to, as a default you can use "R1C1", which is the first column and first cell of the spreadsheet. Now select the "Done" button to save your changes to the database and then the "Done" button again to save your changes to the animation links.

To test the changes, select the "WindowViewer" menu item from the "File" menu. When the window list dialog box is displayed, just select the "OK" button to keep the same buttons. Once the application starts up, it will try to automatically start EXCEL and load the default spreadsheet SHEET1.XLS. By typing values into the first cell of this sheet, you should be able to change the speed of the packaging conveyor; and conversely, and changes you make with the slider should be represented back to the spreadsheet.

By setting up the proper DDE Share structures, you can expand this across the network via NETDDE. With this arrangement, you could have Excel loaded on any machine connected to the network and still work as if it were a local DDE conversation.

Demo Limitations
----------------
This demo version of InTouch for Windows NT contains all of the feature of the release version. The only restrictions are the tag database which is limited to 32 tags, and the run time which is limited to 60 minutes per use. After 60 minutes of running, the application will shut down automatically.
