Crystal Reports for Internet Information Server
===============================================
Crystal Reports for Internet Information Server gives the ability to create and view Crystal Reports based upon the web logs generated by Internet Information Server. The reports can be created on log files that are stored in Microsoft standard log file format, NCSA format and also log files that have been stored in a database (i.e. SQL Server). Once the reports have been
created, Crystal Reports gives the functionality to export the report to HTML (including all graphics). Crystal Reports for Internet Information Server also gives the functionality to have the reports that reside on the web server be dynamically created using the Crystal Web Reports Engine. A sample Active Server Page
has been provided to launch 6 predefined web log reports, you can access this page by opening:

http://[your server]/logrpts/

Please ensure you have the ActiveX Server installed before attempting to launch any of these reports.

Crystal Web Reports Engine Release 3.0
======================================

The Crystal Web Reports Engine is a combination of four components: the Crystal Web Publishing Interface, the Crystal Web Activity DLL and the Crystal Reports Engine, and the Crystal Web Application Interface.
Each component is described below.

Components
----------

Crystal Web Publishing Interface

Using the Crystal Web Publishing Interface, Crystal developers and end-users can publish reports in presentation quality directly to HTML format for viewing by common web browsers.

Crystal Web Activity DLL

The Crystal Web Activity DLL enables the Crystal Report Engine to read all the fields in any Web server log as common database fields and then create in-depth reports. There is no limit to the level of detail and number of data views that Web masters can access to analyze Web site activity.

Crystal Reports Engine

The Crystal Reports Engine is the component of the Crystal Web Reports Engine that retrieves selected data from the database, sorts, summarizes, and groups the data in any specified way, and then presents the final report in presentation-quality format. The Crystal Reports Engine enables Web developers to add reporting capabilities to Web server applications with minimal coding.

Crystal Web Application Interface

The Crystal Web Application Interface is the interface between Web server applications and the Crystal Reports Engine. It allows parameters to be passed to the Crystal Reports Engine for specifying report information.

What's New in Crystal Web Application Interface 3.0
---------------------------------------------------

Database Logon is now possible.
If a report does not have saved data, and requires a password to logon to its databases, Crystal Web Application Interface will generate a Database Logon page to obtain the passwords. If the passwords are successfully verified, it then sends back the report.

On-line Documentation
---------------------
You can view on-line documentation with your browsers with

	http://<your_server>/crwebdocs/default.htm

Sample Log Reports
------------------
If you have installed the Crystal Web Application Interface, you may view the 6 sample reports based on IIS log data. With these reports you can view sample data or refresh the report to view data based on your server. The sample reports can be launched from the following URL:

	http://<your_server>/logrpts/default.htm

Note
----
It is important that you have the ActiveX Server installed if you wish to launch the
sample reports from the Active Server Page.

If you wish to modify the look of the sample reports or create additional reports you can use the Crystal Reports Designer. From inside the Crystal Reports Designer change the location of the Log Data by using the Database|Set Location feature.

Reports created using Microsoft Standard Log format can not be used with NCSA log formats, and the opposite is true for reports created using NCSA format. The 'logrpts' directory contains six sample reports for each format.

Thanks for choosing Crystal Web Technology.
