The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Project for Windows, versions 1.0, 3.0, 3.0a, 4.0
 - Microsoft Project for Macintosh, versions 1.1, 3.0, 4.0

SYMPTOMS
========

When you use a resource unit of 9 when you assign resources to a task,
you may receive a rounding error when work is displayed in the
resource usage view.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Steps to Reproduce Problem
--------------------------

1. Create a task

2. Assign a resource to the task with 9 units and work of 14h.

3. From the View Menu, choose Resource Usage.

   With the timescale in Weeks/Days you will see 13.95h for the
   resource on the day of the task.

4. If you change the resource to 13h of work, resource usage shows
   13.05 hours on the day of the task.

Units of 8 or 10 work correctly but any units of 9 or 9 and a fraction
(for example, 9.1) return rounding errors. If you keep the units at 9
and vary the work, you will find that work with 3 as a common factor
will work correctly (that is, 3h,6h,9h, and so on) where all other
numbers are rounded incorrectly.
