SYMPTOMS
========

Text with superscript or subscript formatting in a Word for Windows
table may print truncated on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs when you select a certain Super/Subscript By
setting that may differ from one font to another because the DeskJet
handles line spacing in a table as a fixed setting, even if you set
line spacing to Auto. This happens when you use either the DeskJet
printer driver included with Windows version 3.1 (HPDSKJET.DRV version
1.1), or DESKJETC.DRV version 3.0 from HP.

This does not happen when the superscript or subscript text is located
outside a table in the document.

For example, for text in a Word table, if you apply superscript character
formatting and select 4 pt in the By box, the superscript character prints
truncated on the DeskJet.

WORKAROUND
==========

Select a smaller setting in the Super/Subscript By box. For example, change
the 4 pt setting to 2 pt. The smaller setting places the entire superscript
or subscript character within the seemingly fixed line spacing.

MORE INFORMATION
================

This problem does not occur on other printers.
