SYMPTOMS
========

Abnormal spacing may occur when you type bold text in Word's picture
window (opened with the Picture command from the Insert menu).

Inside the picture window, the bold text will look correct, but when
the document is printed, the spacing between two bold text objects or
a bold text object and an arrow may be twice as far apart as the
screen indicates.

CAUSE
=====

This problem may occur when both the TrueType and bitmap versions of
the font being used are installed in the System.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for the Macintosh
versions 5.0, 5.1. This problem was corrected in Word for the Macintosh
version 6.0.

WORKAROUND
==========

To correct the abnormal spacing, remove either the TrueType or the
bitmap version of the font from the System Folder and retype the bold
text in the picture window.
