Microsoft Word for MS-DOS License Information and Supplemental Offers

Welcome to new version 6.0 of Microsoft Word for MS-DOS. Word 6.0
comes with a "dual license" which allows you to use Word 6.0 for
MS-DOS today, and then Word 6.0 for Windows if you move to the
Microsoft Windows environment in the future. Word 6.0 for Windows will
be available later in 1993. Here are answers to some questions you may
have about the new license.

1. Q. Why does the license card list both Word 6.0 for MS-DOS and Word
      6.0 for Windows?

   A. Your enclosed license card gives you the option to run Word 6.0 for
MS-DOS as well as Word 6.0 for Windows, when it becomes available
later in 1993. This means you now have a license to use Word 6.0 on
      both platforms.

2. Q. Can I use both Word 6.0 for MS-DOS and Word 6.0 for Windows on the
      same computer?

   A. Yes. For licensing purposes, Word 6.0 for MS-DOS and Word 6.0 for
Windows are treated as if they are a single product.

3. Q. Can I keep Word 6.0 for MS-DOS on my computer when I begin using
      Word 6.0 for Windows?

   A. Yes. You can have both programs on your computer at the same time.
However, if you are primarily using only one of the programs for
most of your word processing, you can save hard disk space by
deleting the other from your computer. Note: Files created in Word
6.0 for MS-DOS can be used in Word 6.0 for Windows.

4. Q. What about my home or laptop computer?

   A. If Word 6.0 is installed on your hard disk (except in the case of a
network server), and you are the person who uses that computer more
than 80% of the time it is in use, then you can also use Word 6.0
for MS-DOS and/or Word 6.0 for Windows on your home or laptop
      computer with this license.

5. Q. Can I use Word 6.0 for MS-DOS on one computer and Word 6.0 for
      Windows on a different computer?

   A. No. Except in the case of your home or laptop computer, as outlined
above. You are required to use Word 6.0 for MS-DOS and Word 6.0 for
Windows as if they are a single product.

6. Q. Can I give my Word 6.0 for MS-DOS program to another person if I
stop using it and start using Word 6.0 for Windows.

   A. No. You are licensed to use Word 6.0 for MS-DOS and Word 6.0 for
Windows as if they are a single product. You cannot separate one
from the other, even if you are not using one or the other. The
other person must obtain a separate license in order to use this
      software.

7. Q. Does this also give me a license for Word 5.5 for MS-DOS or Word
      2.0 for Windows?
   A. No. Your license is "version specific" which means you are entitled
to run only version 6.0 of Word. Previous versions of Word are not
      covered by this license.

8. Q. Does this license also include Word for the Macintosh?

   A. No. This license is specific to the MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
operating systems, Word version 6.0 only.

9. Q. How do I get a Word 6.0 for Windows disk set and manuals when I get
      ready to start using Windows?

   A. Should you desire a set of disks containing the Word 6.0 for
Windows program, or the documentation set for Word 6.0 for Windows,
complete the order form that came with your Word for MS-DOS
package or contact Microsoft Sales and Service. The cost of
obtaining disk set is $15.00 plus $5.00 freight and applicable
sales tax. The cost of obtaining the documentation set is $49.50
plus $6.00 freight and applicable sales tax.

NOTE: You must have returned your product registration card and be
a registered user of Microsoft Word 6.0 to be eligible to order any
disks or manuals (documentation). Disks and manuals will not be
mailed until the release of Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows,
available later in 1993. If you have any questions about this
offer, please call Microsoft Sales and Service at (800) 426-9400
before returning the order coupon. If you require Text Telephone
(TT/TDD) services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, call
      (800) 892- 5234.
