SUMMARY
=======

You can use the following four general switches in an ASK or FILLIN
field to format the result when you reference it in your Word for
Windows document using a REF field:

NOTE: No other general switches affect the ASK or FILLIN fields.

You can use these switches in an ASK or FILLIN field to centrally
control the formatting of a bookmark that is referenced in several
places in your document.

Any general switches you use in a REF field override the switches you
use in the ASK field.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The ASK field prompts you to type information that it stores in a
bookmark. The ASK field itself displays no result. To display an ASK
field result, use a REF field.

The FILLIN field prompts you to type information that it displays as a
result.

Example of ASK and FILLIN Fields with General Formatting Switches
-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you insert the following fields in your Word document:

   {ASK name "What is your name?" \* upper}
   {REF name}

   -or-

   {FILLIN "What is your name?" \* upper}

Word always displays the result of the REF or FILLIN field in
uppercase letters, regardless of how you type the text (for example,
"jAnE", "Jane", or "jane"):

   JANE

For more information on general switches, see the General Switches
topic in the Field Types and Instructions section of online Help.
