The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Multimedia Viewer version 1.0a.358
 - Microsoft Bookshelf, 1991 and 1992 Editions
 - Microsoft Cinemania, 1992 Edition
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

The first time you choose Print Topic from the File menu in a Viewer
1.0-based application, the print job will fail. The following error
message appears:

   The printer is not responding. Check the printer settings.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Viewer version
1.0a.358. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.

RESOLUTION
==========

When you choose Print Topic again, the topic prints correctly. All
subsequent print jobs should also print correctly during the current
instance of Viewer 1.0.

NOTE: This error occurs each time you launch Viewer 1.0-based
application.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If the error continues to occur, it may be caused by insufficient
memory or conflicting terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) applications
with either the printer driver or the printing process.

To eliminate this problem, restart your system without any TSRs,
unnecessary utilities, or drivers, and try to print again.

NOTE: Viewer 2.0 applications may also display these symptoms if you
are running conflicting TSRs or are low on memory.
