SYMPTOMS
========

When you open a Word for Windows, Word for the Macintosh, or RTF
document in Word for MS-DOS and attach a style sheet, whatever styles
were used in the converted document will automatically be added to the
newly attached style sheet. However, Word does not let you know that
any changes have been made to the style sheet. Even when you close it,
Word will not ask you if you want to save changes made to the
style sheet.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word 6.0 for MS-DOS.
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If you run the converter on the file that you want to open in Word,
outside of Word, it will let you know that there are new styles in
your document and it will ask you if you want them added to the
style sheet you are attaching.

If you open a document that has been formatted with styles in Word
without attaching a style sheet, the style formats will be converted
into direct formatting.
