The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Word for Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you choose Summary Info from the File menu, text entered in one
of the field boxes (Subject, for example) may display incompletely.
The missing text will appear to be replaced with blank spaces. This
problem can occur in any of the Summary Info fields except Title.

CAUSE
=====

Text extends past the right edge of a field's text box. When you
reopen the Summary Info dialog box, text on or near the right edge of
a field's text box is incorrectly drawn on the screen, so that some of
the text appears to be missing.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with Word for the
Macintosh. This problem was corrected in version 6.0 of Word for the
Macintosh

RESOLUTION
==========

To view all the text in a field, click in the beginning of the field's
text box, and type a space. The field's text will correctly redraw and
you can delete the newly added character. This redraw problem occurs
each time you choose Summary Info from the File menu.
