SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you print to the Windows Printing System using the port LPT<x>.DOS,
the printer output may appear garbled.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
If you are using the port LPT<x>.DOS and Print Manager is active, Windows
Printing System prints garbled text. If you disable Print Manager, the text
prints correctly.
 
WORKAROUND
==========
 
To work around this problem, disable Print Manager, or use the LPT<x>
port setting.
 
STATUS
======
 
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows Printing System
version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Printing to LPT<x>.DOS is frequently used to work around printer problems.
