SYMPTOMS
========

When you click Paste Special on the Edit menu, the Embedded option is not
present.

CAUSE
=====

The Embedded option will not appear in the Paste Special dialog box if
either of the following conditions is true:

 - The application that the object or text was copied from may not support
   object linking and embedding (OLE). If so, PowerPoint cannot embed
   the object or text into a presentation.

    -or-

 - The OLE capabilities may be disabled in PowerPoint. Check to ensure that
   the Shared Code Manager and associated files are located in the
   Extensions folder.

NOTE: To determine if OLE is installed properly run Microsoft Graph. If
Graph does not run, OLE is probably not installed correctly. Try re-
installing PowerPoint.

RESOLUTION
==========

Method 1: If the Application the Text Was Copied from Doesn't Support OLE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Paste Special dialog box, select Picture or Text to paste the
contents of the Clipboard.

Method 2: If OLE is not installed properly
------------------------------------------

Rerun the PowerPoint Setup program in Maintenance Mode and click Reinstall.
