SUMMARY
=======
 
This article explains how to print envelopes from a Microsoft Works 3.0
database to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) 4M printer. Depending on the driver you
use, the steps will differ slightly. The drivers listed here are the Apple
LaserWriter 7.x or 8.x driver and the Hewlett-Packard 4M driver version
2.2.

Apple LaserWriter Driver
------------------------
 
If you are using an Apple LaserWriter driver:
 
 1. Open the Database file from which you want to print envelopes.
 
 2. From the Form menu, choose New Form.
 
 3. In the Standard Sizes field, choose Envelope.
 
 4. From the list of envelope sizes, choose #10 Legal Envelope.
 
 5. Choose the Fields button on the right side of the New/Set Up Form
    dialog box.
 
 6. In the Auto Place Fields dialog box, select each field that you
    want to use in the address on the envelope, and choose the Place
    button. As you do this for each desired field, a check mark
    appears next to the selected field name. When you have selected
    all the fields you want to use in your address, choose OK. You must
    then arrange the fields on the form as you want them to appear.
 
 7. From the File menu, choose Page Setup.
 
 8. In Page Setup, choose US Letter.
 
 9. Under Orientation, choose Landscape.
 
10. Choose the Document button, and change the Margins to the
    following:
 
       Top: 4.5
       Bottom 0.25
       Left: .5
       Right: 1.00
 
    In the Print dialog box, choose Manual Feed.
 
    If you receive alerts that the margins are negative or too small,
    ignore the alerts and continue with the printing.
 
    If the labels do not initially print in the correct location on
    the envelope, switch to design view and move the fields.
 
Hewlett-Packard 4M Driver
-------------------------
 
If you are using the Hewlett-Packard 4M driver:
 
 1. Open the Database file from which you want to print envelopes.
 
 2. From the Form menu, choose New Form.
 
 3. In the Standard Sizes field, choose Envelope.
 
 4. From the list of envelope sizes, choose #10 Legal Envelope.
 
 5. Choose the Fields button on the right side of the New/Set Up Form
    dialog box.
 
 6. In the Auto Place Fields dialog box, select each field that you
    want to use in the address on the envelope, and choose the Place
    button. As you do this for each desired field, a check mark
    appears next to the selected field name. When you have selected
    all the fields you want to use in your address, choose the OK
    button. You must then arrange the fields on the form as you want
    them to appear.
 
 7. From the File menu, choose Page Setup.
 
 8. Under Envelope, choose Commercial 10.
 
 9. Under Orientation, choose Landscape.
 
10. Click the Document button, and change the Margins to the
    following:
 
       Top: 0.25
       Left: 2.00
       Right: 1.00
       Bottom: 1.00
 
    If you receive alerts that the margins are negative or too small,
    ignore the alerts and continue with the printing.
 
11. From the File menu, choose Print. Under Source, choose Manual Feed
    and prepare to feed your envelopes.
