The files provided as part of Microsoft Data Link Control Protocol
for Windows for Workgroups are for use with Windows for Workgroups
version 3.11.
 
The "Microsoft Data Link Control Protocol for Windows for Workgroups
Installation and Configuration Guide" is contained within the
MSDLC.HLP Windows Help file. To view the contents of the Help file,
double-click the MSDLC.HLP file from File Manager, or open the
MSDLC.HLP file from the Windows Help application. The Windows Help
application can be started by selecting Run from the File menu in
Program Manager or File Manager, and typing WINHELP.EXE and pressing
the OK button.
 
Decompressing the Microsoft DLC for Windows for Workgroups files
----------------------------------------------------------------
 
BE SURE TO READ THE LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING
AND/OR USING THE MICROSOFT CLIENT SOFTWARE. If you do not agree to
this license, discontinue use of the software.
 
In order to install the Microsoft DLC Protocol for Windows for
Workgroups, it is necessary to decompress the files provided as part
of the self-extracting archive file WFWDLC.EXE.
 
To create a floppy disk installation set, use the syntax shown below
to copy each of the disk images to an external drive at the command
prompt.
 
      WFWDLC <destination drive>
 
This will extract the necessary files and allow the DLC protocol to
be installed in Windows for Workgroups. See the section entitled
"Installing Microsoft DLC Protocol" later in this file for
installation information.

Installing the Microsoft DLC Protocol
-------------------------------------
 
If you have installed a previous version of the Microsoft DLC
protocol for Windows for Workgroups (such as the MS-DLC support
offered with LAN Manager version 2.2), be sure to remove it before
running the installation procedure described in the section entitled
"Installing and Using Microsoft DLC" of the MSDLC.HLP Help file.
 
If you installed the Microsoft DLC protocol by hand, following the
instructions in the Windows for Workgroups 3.10 Resource Kit, please
remove the [dlcxif] section in the PROTOCOL.INI file before
installing this version of the DLC protocol.
