Installing Microsoft TCP/IP
---------------------------

If you have installed a previous version of Microsoft TCP/IP for
Windows for Workgroups (such as the TCP/IP support offered with LAN
Manager Version 2.2), remove it before running the installation
procedure described in the section entitled "Installing and
Configuring Microsoft TCP/IP" in the MSTCPIP.HLP Help file.

Using Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups with ODI Drivers
------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows for Workgroups provides support for mapping protect-mode NDIS
3 transport protocols to ODI network card drivers, however support
for mapping real-mode NDIS 2 transport protocols (e.g., Microsoft
TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups) is not provided.

Novell Inc. provides support for running NDIS 2 protocols (such as
Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups) on top of ODI drivers
using the ODINSUP.COM driver, however support for using the ODINSUP
driver is not available from Microsoft. For tips on configuring the
ODINSUP driver for use with Microsoft's TCP/IP protocol stack,
contact the Microsoft FastTips automated service (seven days a week,
24 hours a day) at 1-800-936-4200 and request the Windows for
Workgroups 3.11 FastTips Item ID 107632 if you are using the NetWare
3.x client software (NETX.EXE), or the FastTips Item ID 107648 if you
are using the NetWare 4.x client software (VLM.EXE). These articles
contains installation instructions to manually install TCP/IP with
Windows for Workgroups when using ODI drivers.

If you are using a DEC Ethernet Network Card
--------------------------------------------

If your system hangs when the TCPTSR.EXE driver is loaded, check your
PROTOCOL.INI file for the section for the DEC network card and, if
present, remove or remark out (by preceding the line with a
semi-colon) the line that lists the entry "MaxRCBuffers=0". Removing
or remarking out the line will clear up the problem.
