SUMMARY
=======

The TTEMBED.INI file is a text file that lists the fonts that cannot be
embedded in a document. The Word for Windows Setup program installs
TTEMBED.INI in the Windows program directory. You cannot embed any font
listed in the [Embedding] section of TTEMBED.INI that contains a 0 (zero)
value. Resetting the value to 1 has no effect. TTEMBED.INI overrides the
Embed TrueType Fonts option. (To locate this option, choose Options from
the Tools menu, and select the Save tab.)

By default, TTEMBED.INI includes the TrueType fonts supplied with
Windows 3.1. In other words, you cannot embed the Windows 3.1 fonts.
It is unnecessary to embed these TrueType fonts because any computer
that runs Word 6.0 must also be running version 3.1 or later of
Windows; therefore, these fonts are available on any computer running
Word 6.0.

If you want to prevent the embedding of any other TrueType font, add the
font to your TTEMBED.INI file using the following syntax:

   [Embedding]
   <TrueType Font Name>=0

The manufacturer of your TrueType font determines whether or not you
can embed the font. If the manufacturer codes the font for restricted
licensing, you cannot embed the font or save it with your file. Check
the font vendor's information to see if you can embed the font in
your applications that support font embedding (such as Word).

For more information about embedding TrueType fonts and embedding
types (namely, installable, editable, and print and preview fonts),
see pages 117 and 120 in "Microsoft Word User's Guide." If you have
Microsoft Word Assistant, you can find more information about
embedding TrueType fonts in the Font Assistant online Help (search
for "embedding levels").
