SYMPTOMS
========
 
The internal date kept by SQL Server may cycle back to the start date if
the server is run continuously for 50 days or more. This problem affects
entries in the errorlog as well as the Transact-SQL GETDATE() function.
After 50 days, the date kept by the SQL Server may revert to the date on
which the server was started and begin incrementing again.
 
WORKAROUND
==========
 
Stop and start the SQL Server at least once every 50 days to retrieve the
system date from Windows NT.
 
STATUS
======
 
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server
version 4.2. This problem was corrected in SQL Server version 4.21. For
more information, contact your primary support provider.
