After installing a LAN Manager 2.2b MS-DOS enhanced workstation, all
attempts to print to a network printer by means of TCP/IP from either
MS-DOS or Windows 3.1 crash the machine.
Printing from within Windows 3.1 drops you from Windows to either the
MS-DOS prompt or an unresponsive black screen. Printing from MS-DOS hangs
the machine totally. Ctrl+Alt+Del may not be recognized, and a hard reboot
may be required.
An optimization in TCP/IP causes a send to return to the caller, Messenger, too quickly during the receipt of print job notification.
TCPTSR.EXE has been modified to address this problem.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft LAN Manager version 2.2b. The problem is fixed in CSD00.087. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more information.
