 - Microsoft Video for Windows, version 1.1

SUMMARY
=======

Due to a problem with one of the files that allow for the insertion of
Media Clip objects using OLE (object-linking-and-embedding), you may
experience a gradual loss of GDI resources if you repeatedly play inserted
Media Clip objects. You may run into this problem more frequently in
PowerPoint because it provides the capability to run a slide show
continuously, slide shows can easily contain one or more Media Clip
objects, and PowerPoint includes the run-time files for Video for Windows
version 1.1, which includes the file that causes this problem (MCIOLE.DLL).

The GDI resource loss is very gradual and it may take running a slide show
continuously for several hours before noticing any change in the percentage
of GDI or system resources that are available. Eventually your system will
stop responding (hang), due to lack of sufficient resources, and the
following error message will appear:

General Protection Fault in module OLE2.DLL at 000B:000A

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in PowerPoint versions 4.0 and
4.0a for Windows and Video for Windows, version 1.1 (the version that is
included with PowerPoint). The problem has been corrected in Video for
Windows 1.1a. You can eliminate this problem by installing the run-time
files for Video for Windows 1.1a or installing any application that
includes the updated Video for Windows run-time files.

NOTE: This problem occurs when playing back inserted Media Clip OLE
objects from ANY application, not just PowerPoint.
