SUMMARY
=======

If the DOS German (KEYBGR), French (KEYBFR), or Italian (KEYBIT)
keyboard-configuration commands are running, Word cannot produce a
nonbreaking hyphen when you press CTRL+HYPHEN.

The keyboard location of the hyphen character changes from its normal
position when an international keyboard configuration is installed.
Word detects the CTRL+HYPHEN by looking at the full-keyboard scan
code/ASCII code. When the original-location HYPHEN key is pressed
after the keyboard driver is installed, the wrong ASCII value is
returned. When the new-location HYPHEN key is pressed, the wrong scan
code is returned.

Microsoft has no plans to resolve this problem because the localized
versions of Word work properly with their respective keyboard drivers.
