SYMPTOM
=======

A link (OLE or publish and subscribe) breaks or unexpectedly changes after
you edit the source (server or publisher). The problem may occur if you
double-click to select the last word in the source and type over the
selection.

CAUSE
=====

Double-clicking a word selects the space following the selected word as
well. Typing over the word and the space can break the link or cause the
source to not include the newly typed text.

WORKAROUND
==========

To avoid the problem, do not double-click to edit the last word in a
source.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The following are four conditions that dictate whether this problem will
occur:

1. If the source consists of a single word without any space after the
   word, the link will be lost when you double-click the word and add
   additional text.

2. If the source consists of one or more words with a space after the last
   word, the link will be maintained when you double-click the last word
   and add additional text. The new text becomes part of the source.

3. If the source consists of more than one word without any space following
   the last word, the link will be maintained if you double-click the last
   word of the source and replace the last word with text that you type.
   (See condition 4 for an exception to this condition.)

4. In Word 5.0 only, with OLE-linking only, if the source consists of more
   than one word without any space following the last word, text you type
   after double-clicking the last word in the source will not be included
   in the source unless the source includes a paragraph mark following the
   last word.
