SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project, when you drag a resource from the Resource
Assignment dialog box, the screen does not scroll and you cannot drag
to a task not displayed on the screen.

WORKAROUND
==========

Because the Resource Assignment dialog box is a modeless dialog box, you
can edit your project file while the Resource Assignment dialog box is
displayed on the screen. If the task you want to assign a resource to is
not displayed on the screen, you can use the vertical scroll bars in the
project window to scroll through your tasks until the desired task is
displayed (the Resource Assignment dialog box remains on the screen). You
can then drag the resource to that task.

MORE INFORMATION
================

In Microsoft Project version 4.0, you can drag a task on your project
to another location on the project, even if that location is not
displayed on the screen. You can do this because when you drag a task
below the last task displayed on the screen, or above the first task
displayed on the screen, the screen scrolls as if you were using the
scroll bars to move through the project. However, the screen does not
scroll when you drag a resource from the Resource Assignment dialog
box to a task.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
---------------------------

1. In a new project, enter 30 tasks, Task1 through Task30, respectively.

2. Scroll to the top of the Gantt Chart so that Task1 is displayed and
   Task30 is not.

3. From the Standard Toolbar, choose the Resource Assignment
   button.

4. In the Resource Assignment dialog box, in the Name column, type "Bill"
   (without the quotation marks) and press ENTER.

5. In the Resource Assignment dialog box, position your mouse cursor to
   the left of the resource name Bill until the cursor changes to a
   profile. Click the resource Bill and drag to Task30.

Note that you can drag the resource to the last task on the screen,
but the screen does not scroll and you cannot drag the resource to
Task30.
