The LAN Manager 2.2b patch does not allow more than 32 backup domain
controllers or member servers in one domain. If you try to add a 33rd
server (not counting the primary domain controller) to a single domain, you
receive these errors:
On Screen:
33rd BDC\Member error log:NET3056: System error has occurred.
OS/2 error 8 has occurred.
SYS0008: Not enough storage is available to process this command.
This problem has been encountered in other versions of LAN Manager, but the symptoms now differ from those in earlier releases.NET3210: Failed to authenticate with (the PDC).
0000: 08 00
This problem is fixed by CSD01.040, which contains two code changes. Only one of the changes, however, is included in the LAN Manager 2.2b patch, and it changes the symptoms. The server does not GPFault; it just reports the errors listed above.
A fix to this problem is in development, but the fix has not been regression-tested and may be destabilizing in production environments. Microsoft does not recommend implementing this fix at this time. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services for more information on the availability of this fix.
