What's New
----------

This file contains the current list of files required to patch specific
versions of FoxPro, FoxPro add-ons and the FoxPro Distribution Kits
to the latest version, which is FoxPro version 2.5b.

There have been some fixes to problems reported by customers in FoxPro
version 2.5b. A complete list of fixes incorporated into FoxPro version
2.5b is outlined in the CHGL_B.TXT file in the library where you downloaded
this file.

International Support
---------------------

In response to the requests from our international customers we have added
the following code pages along with supported sort orders to the FOXPRO.INT
file. In order to take full advantage of those code pages you must install
FoxPro version 2.5b.

  737 - Greek MS-DOS (437G)
  620 - Mazovia (Polish) MS-DOS
  861 - Icelandic MS-DOS
  895 - Kamenicky (Czech) MS-DOS
 1253 - Greek Windows

The Process
-----------

If you are not experiencing one of the problems mentioned in the CHGL_B.TXT
file, and do not require international feature support, then you do not
need to upgrade to FoxPro version 2.5b.

To update your current copy of FoxPro, you will need to download the
appropriate files from this library based on your version of FoxPro and the
optional items (FoxDoc, FoxAPP, ...) you've installed. Each set of files
(self-extracting .EXEs) includes an informational file with complete
instructions on the patch process. There are basically two to three main
files you will need to download. You will be getting:

  A) Main Product Updates -- patches your copy of FoxPro
  B) Distribution Updates -- patches your FoxPro DK
  C) Add - on Updates -- updates things like FoxDoc, and the Spell
     check.

Additionally, if you choose, there are updates to the help files.

Locate your particular product configuration and download the appropriate
files as listed below into an empty directory on your hard drive. Once
expanded, these files will be easier to work with in a separate directory.

NOTE: The help file has not been updated for the 2.5b version of FoxPro, so
if you are upgrading from FoxPro version 2.5a, you do _not_ need to
download the help files from the libraries here.

******* SPECIAL NOTE FOR PEOPLE UPDATING FROM A COPY OF FOXPRO THAT *******
******* WAS PATCHED FROM VERSION 2.5 TO VERSION 2.5A! *******

Due to a small problem in the 2.5 to 2.5a patches that incorrectly set the
file dates on your FoxPro files, you will need to run a short program to
update your FoxPro file dates before continuing with the patch process. In
the .EXE file you download and unpack which contains your main FoxPro
product patches, there are two files, SETFDATE.EXE and UPD25A.BAT. Copy
these into your FoxPro directory, and then type UPD25A.BAT. The program
will run and change the dates on your FoxPro files so that the patch
process will work correctly.

The listing below will tell you which files you will need to download.

INSTALLING MAIN PRODUCT UPDATES
-------------------------------

The Main Product Updates file is a self-extracting .EXE file which contains
the files needed to update your copy of FoxPro. After you have downloaded
it to your computer, place the file in an empty directory, and run it. The
program will self-extract several files onto your hard disk. Before
proceeding, read the file READ.ME which explains the patching process.

If you have a distribution kit, and choose to update your main FoxPro
product, we strongly recommend that you update your distribution kit as
well. This keeps your distributed applications and your development
environment at the same version level.

INSTALLING ADD-ON UPDATES
-------------------------

The Add-On Updates file is a self-extracting .EXE file which contains the
files needed to update the optional add-on products, such as FOXDOC,
FOXAPP, SPELL.APP and so on. These files are *not* included in the MAIN
PRODUCT UPDATE file. After you have downloaded the file to your computer,
place the file in an empty directory and run it. The program will self-
extract several files onto your hard disk. Before proceeding, read the file
READ.ME which explains the patching process.

INSTALLING DISTRIBUTION KIT UPDATES
-----------------------------------

The Distribution Kit Updates file is a self-extracting .EXE file which
contains the files needed to update your FoxPro Distribution Kit. After you
have downloaded the file to your computer, place the file in an empty
directory and run it. The program will self-extract several files onto your
hard disk. Before proceeding, read the file UPDWDK.TXT (Win DK) or
UPDDDK.TXT (MS-DOS DK) which explains the patching process.

AFTER SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION OF UPDATES
----------------------------------------

After completing the patching process, you can safely delete the following
files from the patch directory.

1) Anything that has an extension of .FPF (assuming you don't have another
application that creates files with that extension).

2) GEN.EXE, DOSHLP.EXE, FPDAPP.EXE, FPDDOC.EXE, FPWAPP.EXE, FPWDOC.EXE,
   FPWHLP.EXE, PATCH.DBF, PATCH.EXE, SPELL.EXE, WINHLP.EXE, DRIVER.EXE

3) Any of the .EXE files that you downloaded from the Forum.

Additionally, if you installed Distribution Kit patches:

1) UPDDDK.BAT, UPDWDK.BAT, UPDDKA.BAT, UPDWKA.BAT, UPDDDK.TXT, UPDWDK.TXT,
   DOSDK.EXE, DOSDKA.EXE, WINDK.EXE, WINDKA.EXE

NOTE: You may not have all of these files, as some are specific to certain
products.
