SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project, when you use either the Font or the Text Styles
dialog box to format a task or other item in your project, if you
apply a font with a nonstandard bold formatting style (for example
demibold or bold oblique), the bold formatting does not appear on the
screen or printout.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft
products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching
this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION
================

When you choose a nonstandard bold formatting style from the Font Style
list in either the Font or the Text Styles dialog box, the font appears
with the correct formatting in the Sample box. However, when you choose OK
to apply the font, the item you are formatting does not appear with bold
formatting. If you then choose Font or Text Styles from the Format menu
again, with the item selected, the style selected in the Font Style list is
either Regular or Italic. The nonstandard bold formatting style does not
remain selected in the Font Style list.

If you apply a font with a non-standard bold and italic formatting style,
the italic formatting is applied, but again, the bold formatting is not
applied.

Note that in Microsoft Project version 3.0, a font that has a non-standard
bold formatting style is not displayed in the Font list in the Text dialog
box.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
---------------------------

1. In a new project, enter a task, T1.

2. Select T1, and choose Font from the Format menu.

3. From the Font list, select a font that has a non-standard bold style,
   such as Lucida Bright from the Microsoft TrueType Font Pack. From the
   Font Style list, select the nonstandard style, such as Demibold.

The bold formatting appears in the Sample box.

4. Choose OK.

The task T1 appears with regular font formatting instead of bold. If
you choose Font again from the Format menu, Regular is selected in
the Font Style list.
