-------------------------------------------------

To restore a Microsoft Money backup file using Explorer or File Manager:

1. Open the backup file to make sure it's the file you want.

2. On the File menu, click Exit. For Windows 3.x, skip to step 4.

3. For Windows 95, use the following steps:

   a. Click the Start button, point to Programs, and then click Explorer.

   b. Insert the floppy disk containing the backup file into your
      floppy disk drive.

   c. In Explorer, click the folder listing for the drive that
      contains your backup file.

   d. Click your backup file.

   e. On the Edit menu, click Copy.

   f. In Explorer, click the folder listing for the Money folder on
      your hard drive.

   g. On the Edit menu, click Paste.

   h. Use your right mouse button to select the backup file that is
now in the Money folder on your hard drive. Click Rename.

   i. Retype the file name, changing the extension from ..bak to ..mny.

For example, if your backup file is named Filename.bak, type:

         filename.mny

   h. Exit Explorer. Skip to Step 5.

4. For Windows 3.x, use the following steps:

   a. Switch to the Microsoft Windows File Manager.

   b. Place the floppy disk containing the backup file into your
      floppy disk drive.

   c. In File Manager, display the directory listing for the drive that
      contains your backup file.

   d. Highlight the name of your backup file.

   e. From the File menu in File Manager, choose Copy.

   f. In the To box, type the name of the drive and directory where you
typically store your Money files; then type the backup file's name,
      with the extension ..mny.

For example, if you store your Money files in the Msmoney directory
on drive C and your backup file is named Filename.bak, type:

         c:\msmoney\filename.mny

NOTE: This overwrites any existing files that have the same filename.

   g. Choose OK.

   h. Exit File Manager.

5. Start Microsoft Money.

6. On the File menu in Money, click Open.

7. The Open dialog box appears. The restored file (ending in .mny)
should be listed under File Name. Select the file and choose OK.

Your next step should be to enter any transactions or other information you
have entered since you created the backup file. After that, you can work
with the file as usual.
