SYMPTOMS
========

When you try to save a document using the Save command from the File menu,
you are prompted instead with the Save As dialog box. If you enter the
original document name, and choose Save, the following message appears:

   Cannot save to same name; file is open for read only.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs if you try to save a document that has been included in
a print merge main document using the <<include>> field.

During the print merge, the included document is opened in memory by Word
with read-only privileges, and retains read-only status during that session
of Word. If you then open the included document and modify it after the
print merge, when you try to save, you will be prompted with the Save As
dialog box.

WORKAROUND
==========

To modify an included document following a print merge:

 - Open the document to be included before the print merge is initiated.
   This opens the file with full (read and write) privileges. With this
   status, you can save the modifications to the document that occur after
   the print merge.

   - or -

 - Following the print merge, quit and reopen Microsoft Word to edit the
   included document with full privileges.
