The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, version 3.0
 - Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, version 3.0
 - Microsoft Graph for Windows, version 3.0
 - Microsoft Graph for the Macintosh, version 3.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========
When a PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh presentation containing a Microsoft
Graph object is opened in PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows, the graph may be
missing some gridlines, or, in the case of a line chart, the lines between
the data points may be truncated. If the graph is moved around on the
slide, one or more gridlines may appear and then disappear.

RESOLUTION
==========
The graph returns to normal in PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows once the graph
has been updated. No changes need to be made to the graph.
To update the graph:
1. Run Microsoft Graph by double-clicking the affected graph. The graph
   will display correctly in Microsoft Graph.
2. From the File menu, choose Exit And Return to return to PowerPoint.
NOTE: The graph will print normally before it is updated in PowerPoint 3.0
for Windows, even though it does not appear normal on the screen.

CAUSE
=====
This problem occurs due to the cross-platform transfer of an object-linking-
and-embedding (OLE) object. The QuickDraw primitives used by Microsoft
Graph for the Macintosh to display the graph in Macintosh PowerPoint may
not translate correctly to the GDI primitives used by Microsoft Graph for
Windows. The only way to return the graph's appearance to normal is to
update each graph. When a PowerPoint 3.0 for Windows presentation is opened
in PowerPoint 3.0 for the Macintosh, this problem does not occur.
