 - Microsoft Project for Windows, version 3.0
--------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project, when you choose Save from the File menu, and the file
has a full path name (that is, a filename, plus the drive letter and all
characters in the path) and the path name is longer than 62 characters, you
may receive the following error message:

   The path for this file is no longer valid

For example, if a project file is named

   C:\12345678\12345678\12345678\12345678\12345\SAMPLE.MPP

and you save the file, subsequent attempts to save the file will result in
the above error message.

WORKAROUND
==========

To work around this problem, use the Save As command instead of the Save
command. Saving the file with this command will allow the file to be saved
properly.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the
beginning of this article. This problem has been corrected in Microsoft
Project version 4.0.
