Cause

NetBIOS support is not being loaded during the boot.

Resolution

  1. In the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS find the line:
       device=<lanroot>\netprog\netbios.os2

  2. Add /n to the end of it, so that it reads:
       device=<lanroot>\netprog\netbios.os2 /n

  3. Reboot.

The /n allows the system to load NetBIOS 3.0 support during boot.
