SUMMARY
=======

A problem occurs when I do the following:

1. Load or create a document containing words in the PS fonts that
   have the character formats of strikethrough, underscore, and double
   underscore.

2. Select the ALPS2000 driver.

3. Print the document on an ALPS P2000 printer.

Strikethroughs, underscores, and double underscores do not occur at
the proper positions. They are offset slightly to the left from the
appropriate proportionally spaced text.

This is a restriction of the ALPS P2000 printer. Because of this, Word
cannot correctly handle the underline and strikethrough in
proportionally spaced fonts. Several other printers have the same
limitation. The limitation is that the printers do not support
fractional backspacing, which makes it almost impossible to align the
underline exactly with the last character of a word.
