SYMPTOMS
========

If you save a spreadsheet from Works for the Macintosh using the PC Works
converter, an additional column and an additional row will be added to
the spreadsheet. If your spreadsheet is already very large, this may
cause a problem when you try to open the spreadsheet in Works for
MS-DOS or in Works for Windows. If the spreadsheet has been enlarged
to the point that it exceeds Works' limitations, you may lose data.
Works may be unable to read the entire spreadsheet.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the PC converter
included with Microsoft Works version 4.0 for the Macintosh. We are
researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

RESOLUTION
==========

To avoid this problem, make sure that your spreadsheet is not so
large that it approaches Works' size limits. Works cannot read a
spreadsheet that exceeds 256 columns and 16382 rows.
