SYMPTOMS
========
The error "Sorry, you cannot exit PowerPoint while dialogs or
alerts are open, or during a slide show" may occur after launching
PowerPoint and opening an existing file, or creating a new file
and saving it.

RESOLUTION
==========
1. More than one COMMDLG.DLL may exist. Search for all instances of
   COMMDLG.DLL and rename all such files that are not in the
   \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Exit Windows. When PowerPoint is
   launched, the problem should not occur. This seems to work
   consistently on standalone systems.
2. There have been instances where the error seemed to be caused by
   running PowerPoint on a network:
   *When logging off the network, launching PowerPoint and opening/saving a
file, there was no error on exiting. In this case, the Lantastic 4.0
drivers had been loading high in config.sys. The Load High was removed
and PowerPoint was able to exit properly when run with the network
   operating.
   *Installing CCMail loads COMMDLG.DLL into the \CCMAIL directory.
PowerPoint locates and uses this file, but encounters problems because
   the file is in an unexpected directory.
3. Reinstalling PowerPoint also resolves the problem. In one
   instance, changing the shell from Norton Desktop to Program Manager
   and reinstalling PowerPoint resolved the issue.
